Estimating Hydropower Potential, supported by the European
Small Hydropower Association (ESHA)
"HydrA is a PC-based software package for rapidly
estimating hydropower potential at any location in the
UK or Spain. Aimed at hydropower consultants, electricity
utilities, environmental agencies and investors, the package
enables the user to assess the feasibility of proposed
small-scale hydropower schemes at gauged or ungauged sites.
HydrA incorporates a regional flow estimation model derived
from extensive statistical analysis of national river
flow data and catchment information.The software, currently
available for Spain and the UK, is being developed for
other countries in the European Union over the next three
