World Potential (SWEDEN)
Planning, Operation, and Power Exchange
The transmission network described above, consisting of 220
and 400 kV lines, is planned and operated by the National
Grid. Already in 1915 an interconnection between the Swedish
and Danish networks was commissioned. Over the years this
cooperation has been strengthened and extended also to Norway,
Finland and Germany. Cooperation is especially advantageous
because of the different power mix in the different countries.
Thus, Norway is 100% hydro, Denmark 100% thermal, whereas
Sweden and Finland have a mix of predominantly hydro and thermal.
