The installed generating capacity at the end of 1995 was 16,150
MW in hydroelectric stations, 10,050 MW in nuclear and 7,300
MW in thermal power stations. Also about 200 wind power stations
of together 67 MW are installed.
The production of power is practically equally divided between
on the one hand the Government through Vattenfall AB and on
the other hand power companies owned by industries, municipalities
and other non-governmental bodies. All power producing companies
are joined in the Swedish Power Association, formed in 1909.
